So I whipped up this little dress for my gal for Easter. She got to wear it a week early because my church is having a general conference next week, which we’ll watch at home. My upstairs neighbor Felisha is a crafty genius herself, and had a sweet little pattern she was making for her girls. It’s an Izzie & Ivy design (I would include a link here, but I don’t want the maker to find my site and see that I really didn’t like her pattern). CUTE dress, but really the design was completely impossible. Too much fabric. Things didn’t work the way they were supposed to. And it wasn’t logical either (Why have four panels when you could have one and then only one seam??)! Anyway, no likey the pattern at all. I found all this out of course, because Felisha went through the headache of trying to follow the pattern, only to end up doing her own thing. So I did the same thing. And added lots of ruffles to the back. Cute. Simple. Quick.
Oh, and I used my old nursing cover that I had when she was a baby as the main fabric. It was bent out of shape, and I have another slightly more boyish one that I use for my son. Heck no, I’m not going to waste nearly a yard of perfectly good Amy Butler fabric!!! I got the coordinating blue fabric from JoAnn’s for $5. Doesn’t she look like Little Bo Peep!?

Ingenious, Mim! I admire your mad sewing skills more than you’ll ever know. She looks absolutely darling in her new dress. Love how you recycled fabric special to you and to her.
Sylvia clued me in to your blog. You are so talented! I wish I could sew like that. This dress is adorable. What a lucky little girl to have her own custom couture Easter dress. Thanks for all the inspiration.
Holy cow mim. I was thinking like a super simple dress…this thing is AMAZING and does not look simple at all! It is gorgeous!
